NEW YEAR INTENTION SETTING

New Year, New Goals, right?

I don’t know about you babes, but I ditched the word “resolutions” a long time ago. I’ve heard many people refer to resolutions as a way of setting yourself up for disappointment or even failure- and ain’t nobody got time for that!

I started focusing more on my GOALS for the year ahead, what I wanted to think about intentionally and then take the necessary action to achieve them. Looking back on my notebooks (I LOVE notebooks and hand written everything), in 2016, 2017 and 2018 I really just focused on 2 areas of goal setting: Business and Personal.

I’m a huge pen + paper girl, especially for intention + goal setting

Once we got to 2020, which was supposed to be the most EPICCCC year and new decade we got a global pandemic thrown in our faces… BUZZ KILL, right?!
Anywho, once 2020 came knocking I dove deeper into my intentions for the year and broke them down into subcategories to shine a deeper focus on the different areas I wanted to grow:

MINDFULNESS + WELLNESS
BUSINESS
PERSONAL

Now we really look forward to our annual Intention setting happy hour date!

I invited Matt to join me in this exercise a few years ago and I’m not going to lie, I really look forward to this date every year. We make an effort to make it a little date by making fun cocktails or pouring a nice glass of wine, mini nibbles plate and alllll the fun colored pens (obvi this is my task lol).
We have fun building our goals out together- whether it’s something we will both be working towards or a goal that one of us specifically wants to achieve.

I’m such a visual person that I love having things written down where I can see them and where I can go back to again throughout the year.
I also think this is an important component of bringing goals to life. I’ve become a very big believer in visualization and manifesting things you want. I’m not saying you can just light a special woo woo candle or talk to a crystal and POOF! magic is going to happen to bring that thing/job/money/whatever to you (though I’m also not saying its impossible!). These things take work and effort.

Peep my vision board in the background - nothing super fancy but its REAL. Amazing to highlight some massive WINS on that board!

I have some pretty cool stories when it comes to visualizing what you want- my Peloton story is one of them… more on that in another blog.
We need to be intentional about WHAT we want and HOW we’re going to do the work to get there.
Let’s break down an example:
Last year, in 2021, Matt and I both wanted to dip our toes into guided meditation. We weren’t going gang busters and thought we could do 30 minute meditations on our own, we knew we needed to outsource to guided options and see how it would best fit into our lifestyle.

Well, let me tell you, Peloton has fantastic guided meditations on their app- we love them!
They have anything from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, energizing to sleep meditations and a great variety of instructors. We found that guided meditation fit best into our bedtime routine and our post-run cool down, especially down by the water… bliss!

I’m kind of obsessed with Peloton… Its been such an amazing addition to our workouts + wellness lifestyle! Always love sharing my code with you guys in case its something you want to add to yours too! SY8Q4G

We were looking over our 2021 Intentions last week and we looked at each other and simultaneously agreed WE CRUSHED THEM!
Between doing more family adventures with the dogs, to meditation, to home improvements, to business growth goals, to an uber exciting investment opportunity, to Matt doing a new course that lead him into a new career, we were super proud of ourselves for putting in the work and taking inspired action for making these intentions a reality!

One of our 2021 Intentions was to do more family adventures with Molly + Sadie- mission accomplished!

Remember when I said writing them down was important?
It is such a good feeling to sit down and reflect on what you wrote down 365 days earlier and looking at all of the magic you created for yourself in the year and what you accomplished!!

Now I feel like we need an annual intention celebration party…. with champagne and party hats!
Who’s with me?

Are you a New Year Intention person?
Hit me up on IG and share some of your intentions- I’d love to cheer you on!!

I think we need an Intention Celebration date night next!
