MY 2023 READING LIST
Well, its December 2024 as I write this blog… so I thought it was about time to share my 2023 reading list with you 😂
There’s something really satisfying to me about logging all of the books I read in a year- perhaps its the blend of the intention I set at the beginning of each year (how many books I want to read) as well as the art of journaling and recording the books I read. If this resonates with you I highly recommend you do the same and log the books you read each year so that you can reflect back!
I really LOVED all of these books and I LOVE sharing good book recommendations with good people, so let’s get to it!
Mindset and Personal Growth
Expectation Hangover by Christine Hassler
This book came highly recommended by one of my best friends and it taught me how to turn disappointments into opportunities for growth. Hassler's insights helped me reframe setbacks and find purpose in unexpected outcomes.
Atomic Habits by James Clear
EVERYONE MUST READ THIS!
Clear's practical strategies for building good habits and breaking bad ones revolutionized my daily routines. I learned that small, consistent changes lead to remarkable results.
The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest
Wiest's exploration of self-sabotage and personal transformation encouraged me to confront my inner obstacles and embrace personal growth. I really enjoy all of her books!
The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter
This book came recommended by some of our good friends and it challenged me to step out of my comfort zone, showing how embracing discomfort can lead to greater resilience and fulfillment.
Relationships and Healing
It Ends With Us and It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover
These were vacation reads and holy smokes did I go through them quickly!!
These novels offered powerful insights into relationships, helping me understand the complexities of love and the importance of self-respect.
Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian Weiss
Matt and I listened to this on a road trip and WOW, this was a fascinating (audio) book!
Weiss's exploration of past-life regression therapy opened my mind to new perspectives on spirituality and the nature of consciousness.
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
This came recommended to me by my high performance physiotherapist during an appointment, as a result of some of the areas I was experiencing pain and discomfort.
Hay's teachings on the mind-body connection and positive affirmations transformed my approach to self-healing and personal well-being.
Business and Entrepreneurship
The Business of Belonging by David Spinks
This book was gifted to me by one of our lovely BENCHMARK FITNESS members and it was one of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve received in a while, as it was so relatable to what we do at BENCHMARK as well as building the INSPIRE + MOVE Community.
This book revolutionized my understanding of community-building in business, showing how fostering belonging can drive growth and loyalty. I highly recommend this book for anyone passionate about building community!
$100M Offers by Alex Hormozi
Hormozi's strategies for creating irresistible offers reshaped my approach to value proposition and pricing in business. This book served as immediate inspiration for me and how I could take action within BENCHMARK FITNESS!
Gym Launch by Alex Hormozi
This book provided invaluable insights into scaling a fitness business, applicable to entrepreneurs in various industries. I second what I just said… it once again inspired me to take immediate action within our (gym) business!
Entrepreneurs Solution by Mel Abraham
Big fan of this human!! Abraham's framework for building a thriving business while maintaining work-life balance proved instrumental in my entrepreneurial journey. I highly recommend this book for any and all entrepreneurs!
Buy Back Your Time by Dan Martell
Martell's strategies for increasing productivity and reclaiming time have been game-changing for my work-life integration. This is a book that I plan to read again in 2024 and maybe even 2025, as there are some really high value takeaways in this book that all entrepreneurs can benefit from.
Motivation and Success
The Power of One More by Ed Mylett
Mylett's philosophy of pushing for "one more" in various aspects of life ignited a new level of motivation and drive in my pursuits. This was a really powerful book that I LOVED and Matt did as well!
Motivation Manifesto by Brendon Burchard
Burchard's passionate call to reclaim personal power and live with purpose reignited my commitment to achieving my goals. I loved this book! There were so many valuable takeaways. I also must mention that if you have an opportunity to see Brendon Burchard live at an event… get a ticket and get in that room!!
Be Seen by Jenn Gottlieb
I feel like I have a deeper connection to this book as I saw Jen speak at a Lori Harder event earlier in the year, that just so happened to be around her initial book launch- which made for some seriously electric energy in the room! This book empowered me to embrace authenticity and visibility in my personal and professional life. This was an easy read but also a really high value read!
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
The GOAT!! While controversial, this book introduced me to the power of positive thinking and visualization in manifesting goals. I read this book when I was in my early 20s and this time around I listened to it on Audible and it’s interesting to pay attention to how a book resonates with you between reading it vs listening to it.
Mind Shift by Erwin McManus
McManus explores the transformative power of mindset and how our thoughts shape our reality. McManus emphasizes that success begins in the mind, advocating for a shift from limiting beliefs to empowering ones.
Believe it or not, I listened to this (on Audible) in one sitting while scrubbing my laundry/mud room floor LOL
