THE FUEL BEHIND OUR AMBITION FOR COMMUNITY WITH DR. MICHELLE PERIS
As a high achieving mindset entrepreneur, it is such a delight to connect with other amazing like-minded women with similar aspirations and to really build upon those quality connections! It was so wonderful to have Dr. Michelle Peris on my podcast the other month and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share some of the amazing highlights from our conversation on all things community, personal health, and building lasting relationships that can inspire people to feel their best inside and out!
Michelle is a naturopathic doctor, speaker, women’s empowerment advocate, mother, and host of the Wild Medicine Podcast. She is the clinic director of The Poppy Clinic, an integrative medical clinic and the creator of the community health initiative, The Wild Collective.
Our relationships now can determine our health way down the line, and there is science to back this up! So Michelle was determined to work towards not only helping women get healthy and build a beautiful life, but spread the word that this is done much easier when we do it in community with each other! Hence The Wild Collective! Coming from a place where she felt she had a lack of community growing up and then finally stepping into that belongingness in addition to her research as a doctor, this began Michelle’s shift into how she practiced and the intention behind it. Community fuelled her passion and the belief in herself for what was possible. How amazing is that?!
A huge struggle for many and a closely related topic we transitioned to (that I also have a whole solo podcast episode about!) was how hard it is to make friends as an adult, and where you can seek new friendships and relationships outside of work. Michelle is a prime example of one of many solutions being:
Create these opportunities and communities YOURSELF! Building what you wish existed if you are seeing a gap or don’t have access to what you desire!
Michelle created The Wild Collective essentially as a women’s circle, meant to be a safe environment for them to flourish, grow in their personal, mental and physical health, while building relationships. We can get so caught up in all these facets of ourselves, especially as women in multiple roles, that we can often forget to rediscover our true identities and to remain present. This is so similar to what I try to create within the Inspire + Move community and at Benchmark fitness! This can be applied to communities in your personal life or in your business and brand as an entrepreneur!
Some great actionable questions to ponder on:
What is it you want to create?
What is it you wish existed?
How can you take the actual steps (even small ones!) to build what you wish you had?
Michelle even shared that way before she started The Wild Collective, her coach at the time told her it would be quite difficult, but Michelle knew it was worth it and wouldn’t trade any minute of the journey!
This led us into talking about why getting into those rooms and working with coaches, mentors and like-minded individuals is so KEY to staying inspired, feeling challenged and supported when it comes to taking those bigger leaps whether is be creating something or simply searching out community if you haven’t before!
